Project Info:

An example of a smaller project I routinely work on is AB (and sometimes CDEF) test variations. This test focused on the page of Psychic Source with the most traffic: the Our Psychics page. Since the existing experience was confusing to new users and visually noisy, the goal of the test was to streamline and simplify the many contact options users are presented with.

When I had worked on the app, I introduced the element of availability indicators that replaced the contact buttons. Repeating that pattern here would be a win-win; creating consistency between the app and the website as well as simplifying the options for the customer. I decided that for this test, the indicators would be used in all options. So regardless of which design won, there would be a new visual pattern solidified.

For most tests, if possible, I like to design 3 options. The 1st is always a crowd-pleaser; a simple option that's easy to implement for those resistant to change. The 2nd is a big change; a hail mary of sorts. And the 3rd being somewhere in between.

I ended up with a simplified tile for the crowd pleaser; where the contact buttons were simply replaced with the indiactors and everything else stayed the same. For the hail mary, a big layout change and resize of the bio photo. And for the in-between, a larger bio picture with the same 1-column layout.
